Beach vacation 2010

Oceanside, CA
July 31 - Aug 6, 2010

It's a delightful place to take a familee vacation. We are close to the beach, close to the fire pits and pier, close to shops and restaurants, etc. We stay at the Wyndham resort and each familee gets their own room. It is really like a hotel with a kitchen in and we just bounce back and forth between rooms. But the nice things about it is, you have your own space if you need to get away.

This year we missed Lana and Tyson, Brett, Bree & the boys. Lana went to girls camp, Tyson was in Utah, Brett's familee was in Canada

Sunday we had a picnic, at the church!
For familee home evening we followed the string and learned about
holding to the iron rod.

At the end of the rod was a treasure, only I forgot to get the treasure!
I had these cute little boxes that I brought from home.
Trent told them that was their treasure and as they collected things during the week, they could put it in their treasure box.
Smart thinking!

I had to take a picture of this little bear.
This is what Cohen sleeps with.

Playing at the beach...

Check out Bennett. He HATED the sand!
He would not put his feet down to touch it.

Check out his foot!

And here is Amara's natural position. Screaming!
She screams if she is happy. She screams if she is mad.
And she screams when see wants something!
(There is a difference in the sound, however.)

And here is our pretty, little Ella!
Her hair is finally starting to grow, ever so slowly.
Love her little curly locks. I love that they all have some curl in their hair.

Can he really be that old!

This month, on August 6th Trent turned 30 years old. Now, just how can that be! When did that all happen?! I told Trent that turning 50 myself, wasn't so tramatic but when you have a child that turns 30, now that makes a person feel old! Sesily planned a surprise party, no surprise to Trent, however. So many of his good friends from their Mountain Edge ward came as well as Rob Sperry and Adam Murie. They traveled from Utah for it. Sesily and several of her friends, Allison and Amy and Jenae helped with the food and the set up. Allison, Amy and Sesily made the cake but the "30" on the top broke apart. They were a bit dissappointed with the end product but I thought it was wonderful! And it tasted wonderful too.

Trent tricked everyone and had Rob drop him off in the wash and climbed over the back wall. (We were all waiting in the front yard for him.) So when Rob pulled up and we all shouted surprise, trent came out the front door. He surprised us!

Rob and Janae Sperry

The baker's...Allison, Sesily & Amy Bert sharing their true feeling about the cake. It was so hot that the little candles on the cake melted.

I love this boy, even if he is 30!!! He picked a wonderful wife and brought adorable grandchildren to us. He is a good dad, teaching them the gospel principles. He has such a cute relationship with each one of the kids. He is a good dad like Chad!

Cohen's kindergarten graduation

Cohen has now finished kindergarten. Since we were on our familee vacation at the beach for the graduation ceremony, the teacher let us come to the rehearsal. They sang several songs and I was so happy to see that Cohen does NOT take after his father! He loves singing the songs and doing the actions! Trent NEVER sang a word! He still doesn't.

It took Cohen a bit to time to get use to school. He didn't really want to go early and play on the playground. I think that was hard for him at first. He only wanted to get to school just in time for it to start. I know those nervous feelings. New situations scare me too.

But he just loved his teacher, Ms. Hatcher. Sometimes he would even call me Ms. Hatcher. She was good to him. I am so grateful for good teachers who lift your children and like them. We hope for another good teacher in the first grade.

At the ceremony practice, I looked over an saw the back of Ella and Bennett's head. Their hair is nearly the same color. I loved to see the difference in the curls and the texture of their hair. While Bennett has always had a head of hair, Ella's is SLOWLY coming in. I know she will end up with beautiful hair too because both her parents have pretty hair. Nice and thick. She can now pull it back in piggies! Adorable!
