Beach vacation

Our familee spent several days in Oceanside, CA at the beach. We enjoyed it so much last year that we have decided to make this a yearly event (at least for now). We stay at a resort so each familee has their own room or shares with one other couple in the familee. Sometimes it would be nice to stay all together in a house so that we could play games easier at night, but this works with all the little babies and their sleeping schedules.

We grocery shop when we get down there and then divide up the meals.

Chad and Trent still spend time working but take a break for activities. This year everyone had different schedules. Tyson didn't come because he was in Canada (but flew home to Vegas early) so Lana left to be with him. Bree's family was on their annual beach vacation the very same week so they went back and forth between the two families. It worked out good for them in that we were only 30 minutes apart. Megan left early to meet up with her sister's and Mom for their 'girls retreat'. It was wonderful, cool weather and we enjoyed the time down there.

The US Midway tour was really interesting. A person could spend all day there - it is massive!

We met up with some of Bree's family to play water kickball. (That was what Megan's family played for Kenny's birthday.) Brett arranged an area to play, at the high school near by. He found the field manager of the school and he was kind enough to let us use their water. Leave it to Brett to make things happen! The kickball pictures are at the end of the post. I am reminded over and over again, when something looks so easy to do, nope! It's not! Not for me! There isn't a bit of athletic talent in my body. I mean, really, how hard can it be to kick the ball (well, I actually did do that but certainly not very far) but I never made it even a base! Then, I look like a goof trying to pitch.

But the worse of it all...sliding on the slip and slid. Really, how hard can THAT be! You just....slide. At least everyone else does. Not me! I just stuck right there where I landed and did a chest plant! And, well, it didn't feel so good then or several days afterwards either! So I just really need to be a spectator. And thank heaven's none of my children in herited my athletic ability! I guess I'll stick with knitting and photography. I am pretty safe there!

Chad working!

Mr. Bennett is ALWAYS hungry. I am certain he has a hollow leg. That cute boy eats all the time. And not just a little bit, either. Don't you love his hair - bedhead!

Cute Llayton.

Bree and her family, her mother, sister-in-law Heather and sister Alese (I think I spelled that wrong.)

My one athletic skill...

Then Brett got me out...

Check out this form! The last picture is where I 'stuck' - nope, no sliding for me!

Harrison's and Lee's...

It was a fun time. Right after we got home, Chad and I went to Chicago with the SUV choir (now that was an adventure) and then went straight to UT for education week. Summer's over; I am always sad to see it end.
Kenny starts is 2nd year of Law School, Trent starts is first year of on line classes through Harvard and Tyson is finishing up at UNLV.
